About the Author
Robert Miner is a first place winner of the World Cup Championship of Futures Trading and was named the "1997 Market Guru of the Year" for his analysis and trade recommendations for the S&P index and other major financial and commodity markets. Miner has taught traders around the world his unique approach to technical analysis and trading strategies since 1986. For the first time he has put all of his techniques together into one book in a clear and concise step-by-step guide to his unique trading approach. A must read if you want to be a real trader

Honestly, the best and most useful book I've come across about trading. In my opinion is a must read for anyone willing to become a trader and ready to learn the "how to".
I liked the approach, the structure and the amount of examples. It helps to have already some knowledge of Elliot Wave analysis, but the book goes beyond it: it shows what sort of elements are necessary to be successful in trading.
Personally, I have long been interested in Technical Analysis, and am very familiar with most of the concept presented, so didn't learn much about patterns or price relations that I didn't know already. I was weaker on the time cycles approach, glad to have discovered how it works and how it can be useful. But most importantly, I've learned about the putting all this together and making it "profitable". So far my analysis were mostly right, but my trading results were not good - and I definetly was frustrated at being able to somehow "get it right" about a market/stock/etc. and still not make money in balance. This book opened my eyes to what were my mistakes and how it is possible to avoid them.
Thank you to the author, and to an Amazon.com reviewer (sorry, forgot the name) who suggested this book in a review of another (the review was about Neely's book on Elliot Waves) literally saying: "this book is where I learned how to trade".
Final note: the book's author provides also a newsletter service and has developed software to implement "easily" his approach. Haven't tried either, but from the examples of the newsletters provided in the book, it seems like something I wouldn't be interested in. The "advertising" about this service in the book is fairly "discreet", which was appreciated.

Outstanding text on trading

Very conveniently laid out. No more flipping back and forth trying to find the chart the text is talking about. It's all right there on the same page. The second chapter is right to the point about the best way to look at trading Elliott Waves. I will read this book over several times.

About the Author
Professor David Ricketts qualified at Guy’s Hospital Dental School, now GKT Kings College, in 1986. Following an Oral Surgery House Officer post and two years in general practice he returned to Guy’s Hospital to study for an MSc in conservative dentistry. During this period his main research interest in cariology and, in particular, its diagnosis and appropriate management began which led to the award of a PhD in 1995. David has since published widely in his research area and in other aspects of restorative dentistry and his research has led to collaboration with colleagues in numerous European countries and the USA. In 1999 David moved to Dundee and was promoted to Senior Lecturer / Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in 2003. In 2006 he became Leader of the Section of Operative Dentistry, Fixed Prosthodontics and Endodontology at Dundee Dental School and in 2008 he was awarded a personal Chair in Cariology and Conservative Dentistry.

Professor David Bartlett is Head of Prosthodontics at Kings College London Dental Institute. His research interest in tooth wear, particularly dental erosion, began with his PhD completed in 1995 which investigated the relationship between reflux disease and dental erosion. David has published over 70 research articles on dental erosion and other restorative subjects in National and International dental and medical journals. He has supervised four PhD’s, 20 MSc’s and been successfully awarded nearly half a million pounds in grant income. David has written three books and a number of chapters on prosthodontics.

The first of three main parts considers the analysis of problem structures and the strategies used in solving problems, exploring the concept of humans as active processors of information. This leads, in the second part, to an examination of the role of previous experience in solving (new) problems, and of the use of computers to model the processes involved in problem solving and learning. The final part looks at recent research on "intelligence" by cognitive psychologists. The processes underlying behaviour on a subset of intellgence-test tasks are examined and the question of whether or not intelligence can be trained is explored - in particular whether training on particular intelligence-test tasks generalizes to different situations, such as classroom performance.
