This is the Faith has long been established as a classic introduction to the faith and teaching of the Catholic Church. Now it is reprinted, in the 1973 edition that Canon Ripley himself revised for publication. Fr Francis Ripley worked tirelessly for the conversion of England. Author of many much loved books, This is the Faith is the one for which he is particularly remembered and it stands as a memorial to his lifelong missionary work. Based on a series of twice-weekly talks given many times for non-Catholics under the auspices of the Legion of Mary, the book remains a safe and sure guide for instruction. Francis Ripley was born in 1912 at Windleshaw in Lancashire. After trying his vocation as a Jesuit and as a Capuchin, he entered the archdiocesan seminary at Upholland in 1935 where he took first prize in dogmatic theology for three years in a row. Ordained in 1939, he undertook post-graduate study in moral theology and canon law at the Gregorian University in Rome. After parish work, he served as a chaplain and squadron leader in the Royal Air Force. A frequent speaker for the Catholic Evidence Guild, Francis Ripley joined and eventually became superior of the Catholic Missionary Society in London, preaching the Faith to non-Catholics. Canon Ripley died on January 7, 1998.

the books content I very much recommend.

I have a newer issue of this book I borrowed from my daughter. I wanted to return her copy, so I searched for one of my own. I prefer hardcover when I can find one. Also, getting an older version is also preferred. Unfortunately, this copy was missing the first 80 pages, and it is not a hardcover as advertised! It is a thicker softcover, but definitely not a hardcover! Otherwise, the books content I very much recommend.

Atlas of Ultrasound for Interventional Procedures

After 8 years of doing all my joint injections using anatomical landmarks "old school"; I am finally getting started with ultrasound guidance. This book is the first one I have bought on the subject. I must say I am not disappointed to have chosen this book. The articles explain complicated concepts in a way that is easy to read and understand. Great technical writing by the authors! The US images could be a bit crispier, but they are good enough. This book is quite comprehensive. The "knobology" chapter is great. I would highly recommend this book to any interventionalist who is getting started with US guidance. I just took a course in US guided MSK injections through the American Association of Pain Management in Ultrasound (AAPMU) and I felt very comfortable with all the concepts presented there after having selectively read portions of this book. By the way: I would HIGHLY recommend taking as many "hands-on" courses as you can before getting started with US guided injections. This book could be improved if it came with a CD containing all the US images in the book, and video clips of the injection procedures.

This is one of the few books discussing US guided procedures in pain management. Book chapters are well organized. Information is easy to understand. I wish the picture quality would have been better. Also I recommend that the editor provides DVD or web-based videos of the included procedures. Highly recommended.

the most educational text book

This book is the most educational and latest text book of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia and pain medicine. However, the quality of bookbinding is so bad that The notes of this book became scattering two days after I got it.
